Now that National Security and the international intelligence community has thwarted the JFK airport terror plot the question is whether the explosions which were designed to detonate jet fuel, vapor and oxygen would have been successful in the first place.
Four men have been charged in a conspiracy to cause terror at one of the most popular airports in the world where miles of cargo and forty million people flow each year.
Experts are divided as to whether the combustion strategy would have been successful in the first place as it was designed.Still, the event emphasizes the needed cooperation between countries’ intelligence units, the vulnerability of innocent people as they travel worldwide and the need to be more vigilant. It obviously also increases the fear element of individuals across the world.President Bush has already stated that he applauds the efforts of the international counter-terror groups in ensuring that the terror attempt did not work.
The arrested appear to have relationships to the Middle East.
Sounds like the BBS has joined the media in thinking that perhaps we acted prematurely. They agree with the left (I am sure that Rosie O'Donnel will have thought on whether this was a serious attempt or not) who think that we have no cause to arrest and detain people who are in the process of trying to kill Americans. They must actually Kill people before we can act. It is a law enforcement issue. Seems that is what happened in 9-11. I believe it is too late once we have bodies. Then we are reduced to what is happening now. Investigations, recriminations, blame game, finger pointing nonsense that gets us nowhere. If fear is the only thing that gets people to act; then fear is what we need. Too many in this country have forgotten 9-11. In fact, many want to pretend that it never happened. Good Job, guys. A few less terrorists on the streets. That is what it is all about.
