TOUR OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
Pack your culinary suitcase… Vega Tapas Café embarks on its annual “Tour of the Mediterranean,” an epicurean excursion of exotic tastes and flavors from around the Great Inland Sea! Chef/owner Glen Hogh announced his yearly progressive tour of tasting menus kick off July 9 with Morocco as the first dining destination. “It is always the highlight of our summer promotional program,” said Chef Hogh. The special tour tasting menus, which cost $27 per person plus tax and gratuity, consist of 5-8 small plate courses crafted around the classic flavors of each country. “Tour Travelers” also have the option of pairing regional wines (when available) with each tasting for an additional $15 per person.
In addition, “touristas” will receive a “Tour of the Mediterranean Passport” stamped with each menu they partake in the tour. After the final port of call on the eight-week culinary excursion, diners with three stamps are treated to a complimentary bottle of wine on their next visit anytime during the month of September. Vega Tapas Café’s wine selection is stocked with unique bottles from around the world fitting for the “Tour” including wines from Morocco, Turkey, and Greece, as well as selections from more well known wine producing regions in Italy, France, & Spain.

The city’s first true tapas eatery, Vega Tapas Café is located at 2051 Metairie Road in Old Metairie and is open for dinner Monday through Saturday at 5:30pm. In addition, Vega Tapas Café offers full-service catering for business luncheons, celebratory occasions and private functions.

Waiting Around (the Restaurant Musical), the show that depicts life in the service industry, returns to celebrate its ten-year anniversary on July 23 atThe Allways Lounge and Theatre. The show will run on Mondays at 8 pm, through August 27. “Waiting Around” was first seen at Le Chat Noir, where it premiered in 2002. It played off-Broadway at the productions in Delaware, and was presented last summer at Allways, as well as in Lockport, at the Bayou Playhouse. Composer and Musical Director Harry Mayronne is presenting the show along with original cast member Chris Wecklein, who returns as a performer. Other returning cast members include Tracey E.
