Today at 3pm: Edwards vs. Vitter, blab with pollster John Couvillon
Written by

fat lady 1It seems to be beyond, at least for now, that Jon Bel Edwards is beating US Senator David Vitter with 17 days to go until Election Day.

But, the fat lady ain't even begun to sing as there is plenty of time, plenty of issues and surely more polls.

In fact, she hasn't even yet begun to blab.

Until, possibly today.

Today, Pollster John Couvillon of JMC Analytics(whose most recent survey reveals that Democrat Louisiana Representative, Jon Bel Edwards, is leading Republican US Senator, David Vitter by 20 percentage points) will be participating in a Bayoubuzz Twitter Blab discussion  at 3pm CST.

Youu will be amazed at this new technology.

You are invited to watch, to ask your questions and even to make your quick comments.

Joining in the discussion will be Jim Brown.

The JMC Analytics survey was released on Monday by KTVE and JMC Analytics.  Other polls have issued other results, but, they have all been in double digits, with Edwards in an surprising lead.

So, how can Vitter, who has been in the catbird seat to be the next Louisiana Governor, now be so far behind--so quickly?  Statistically, what must he do to win?  What are the respective candidates’ strengths and weaknesses?

To participate, here are two methods:

If you have a question to ask and/or if you want to make a comment, here is the link.  However, you must have a twitter account to use this feature.

catRarely, have I seen few issues that have generated as much raw heat, tension, and passion than the Confederate monuments controversy.

Just as existed during the real civil war, where brothers battled brothers, social media is the battleground, particularly Facebook, pitting friend against friend.

On one side of the tense divide, there are those who are protecting the New Orleans civil war era monuments.  Burnt in effigy, forever, is the symbol of Mayor Mitch Landrieu for up-ending what the monument protectors consider to be the loving civil society of New Orleans.

Lately, events have turned somewhat militaristic.

Some protectors of the Confederate monuments have been staying vigilant, in person and online, even surveilling during the wee hours of the morning, waiting for the next Mayor Landrieu attack. On Sunday morning, with protections of snipers, masked workers and a dumbstruck audience, the worst of all of the monuments was cut and carried., the Liberty Monument.
