NEW MUSIC PREMIERE:

The Unthinkable Misery of Being Good

A Dynamic Post-Modern Jazz Trio presents
the drama of Man vs. God.

Wednesday, January 26 · 8:00pm - 10:00pm

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 6249 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, LA (Corner of Harrison & Canal Blvds in Lakeview)

The Wee Trio, a critically acclaimed vibes-fronted jazz trio presents a musical exploration of the Book of Job.

The Wee Trio (bassist/composer Dan Loomis, drummer Jared Schonig - both from New York, and vibraphonist James Westfall from New Orleans) will be joined by two vocalists -Cindy Scott, and Sasha Masakowski.

In the words of the composer, "This work is extension of my long fascination with the story of Job from the Judeo-Christian tradition (brush up hereif it's been a while since you studied Torah).  It sets selected text from the Book of Job in a seven-movement song cycle that draws on the jazz tradition, the compositional techniques of Steve Reich, and the choral textures of Eric Whitacre."

Trust me, you have never heard Job like this. Thanks so much to Dr. Caroline Carson and St. Paul's Episcopal Church for making this presentation of creative new music possible!
