New black Regents member Sams sworn in at SUNO-UNO meeting

Dr. Albert D. Sam II, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s appointment to the Board of Regents was sworn in today at the Regents special meeting focused upon the possible UNO-SUNO merger.

Sam is African-American.  


Jindal appointed Sam to the Board of Regents to achieve diversity after being criticized for not appointing any blacks to the Regents although over African Americans make up over 30 percent of the state’s population.
