North-South Louisiana Redistricting Plans Supported by Jindal Coming Unglued

The redistricting plans are not going as planned.

According to the Times Picayune, “Today, U.S. Rep. Charles Boustany, R-Lafayette, told the state Senate's redistricting committee Monday that he opposes moving any Acadiana parishes that he now represents in the 7th district to a Shreveport-based district. Rep. Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, emphasized his opposition to carving the capital region into as many as four districts.”

Last week, both testified in favor of keeping two North South districts which have been supported by Louisiana governor, Bobby Jindal and all but one of the Louisiana U.S. congressmen.

The conflict of North vs. South  redistricting is dominating much of the debate in the Louisiana legislature.
