Louisiana House Speaker Jim Tucker Says He’s Not Running Against Chris Roberts
Written by

Jim Tucker, the Louisiana Speaker of the House will not be running for Jefferson Council against Chris Roberts and will not and has not run a poll to determine the viability of such a run.

In an email to Bayoubuzz late Friday afternoon, following the publication of a Bayoubuzz article by Christopher Tidmore who said that Tucker was considering a run, Tucker wrote, “I do not live in Jefferson Parish but in Orleans. I supported Chris Roberts for councilman at large in Jeff and will continue to do so in the fall.”

Chris Roberts also called Bayoubuzz and said there is no way that Tucker would run against him since the House speaker does not even live in Jefferson Parish.”

Bayoubuzz Note:

The following is an apology from Christopher Tidmore

"I would like to apologize to the readers of Bayoubuzz.  I was led to believe by a known close friend of Jim Tucker's that a poll was being conducted to test Speaker Tucker's viability for a parishwide race.  This was a credible source with a close relationship with Jim Tucker. I was under the impression that the Speaker was still a Jefferson Parish resident from his friend.  I was mistaken.  As such, I apologize to Speaker Tucker and the readers."

"Again, I apologize to Speaker Tucker about the mistake.  As a resident of Orleans Parish, he could not run for Jefferson Parish Council.
