Trump, Obama Saga: Unanswered Questions For The Liberal Media
Written by

Back in the Watergate era, the mainstream news media prided itself on investigative journalism. Of course, it was Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post, who were so instrumental in uncovering the Nixon cover-up. These reporters were immortalized in the Academy Award winning movie “All the President’s Men.”

Of course, Nixon was a Republican and the mainstream news media is extremely liberal. They were totally opposed to his agenda. When a real conservative Republican was elected as President, Ronald Reagan, the media went into frenzy mode. They tried to turn the Iran-Contra crisis into another Republican resignation or at least an impeachment proceeding.

The liberal media was upset that Reagan survived, but they soon turned their derision toward George H. W. Bush. He was the subject of constant negative media coverage and, lacking Reagan’s skills as a communicator, he became a one term President. He was followed by a complete scoundrel, William Jefferson Clinton. Yet, the media was basically supportive of his agenda and refused to aggressively investigative his checkered personal history and morally corrupt behavior. There were no real media confrontations with his administration during his two terms. Of course, Clinton was a liberal Democrat and the media loves a Democratic administration. Despite a never ending series of investigations, indignities and allegations of sexual abuse, Bill Clinton, otherwise known as Slick Willie, survived the Lewinsky scandal and impeachment to retain his office. If not for the conservative website the Drudge Report, the Lewinsky affair would have been covered up by Clinton loving media. Today, Clinton’s many scandals are overlooked and he is treated as some sort of elder statesman instead of reprobate.

During the administration of George W. Bush, the media again resumed the role of watchdog and administration opponent. The liberal media was critical of the war in Iraq from the very beginning. Bush was routinely ridiculed as inept and stupid, yet he released his college records, unlike the current occupant of the White House. While Bush won re-election over the pathetic John Kerry in 2004, his reputation was permanently damaged by the constant barrage of negative media coverage.

All of that changed once Barack Obama was elected President. The media became his chief cheerleader in the 2008 election. John McCain was cast overboard by his former friends in the media, who championed Obama as a historic figure, possessing unusual abilities and an unbelievably high IQ. Obama never proved any of this; however, we were constantly told by the media how much talent and skill he possessed.

The media became so invested in Obama that his stark failures were not properly covered. As a result, more and more Americans turned to alternative news sources on the Internet and talk radio. The tea party movement was started in spite of negative coverage by the news media, which has been very hostile toward this unprecedented political movement. According to typical media coverage, the tea party movement is filled with violent racists, not concerned patriots.

What really turned the media against the tea party was the group’s criticism of their hero, Barack Obama. While the economy has been in a severe recession, with high unemployment and massive debt, the media has been trying to paint a fantasy of economic recovery.

Legitimate questions about the background, credentials and birth records of Barack Obama were cast as the sole domain of the lunatic fringe of the Republican Party. Only when the issue was addressed by the media savvy Donald Trump did liberal reporters reluctantly cover the issue.

The media attention and Trump’s unrelenting questions finally forced Obama to release his “long form birth certificate,” something he should have disclosed three years ago. However, Obama was given a pass as the media lap dogs refused to properly investigate Obama when he burst onto the national scene. In contrast, no GOP candidate could have survived without releasing his birth, medical or educational records.

Now that the “real” birth certificate has been released, here are some questions that World Net Daily is asking the President, but the liberal news media will not ask:

  • What took Obama so long to release this document?
  • Was “African” really used to identify race?
  • Why is the certificate out of sequence with other birth certificates from the same hospital at the same time?
  • What was the impact on the Hawaii birth certificate when he moved to Indonesia as a child and reportedly was adopted by an Indonesia man?
  • On what nation's passport did he travel to Kenya as a student?
  • Who gave Obama scholarships to attend Occidental, Columbia and Harvard?
  • What about other still-withheld documentation such as his passport records, kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, University of Chicago articles, Illinois State Bar Association records, Illinois State Senate records and schedules, medical records, Obama/Dunham marriage license, Obama/Dunham divorce documents, Soetoro/Dunham marriage license and adoption records?
  • What about his use of a Connecticut-based Social Security number when he had no connection to the state?

Some skeptics clam the certificate is a forgery, but that debate will never be resolved. There will always be conspiracy theories. What is interesting is that the day after Hawaii officials claimed that long form birth certificates will not be issued, the President produced one.

A more important debate involves why this issue was not addressed by the mainstream news media and why there is such a blatant double standard in their coverage. The media should act like a watchdog toward every President, not just those from the Republican Party.

mass2On July 4, 1778, George Washington doubled liquor rations for the soldiers quartered in Princeton, NJ, as a way to celebrate Independence Day. It’s fitting, therefore, that the Fourth of July is America's top-selling beer holiday, according to the Beer Institute. It estimated, in 2013, that sales of beer on the 4th could total $1 billion, doubtlessly higher today. “In moderation,” claims a CA brewery investor, Grover McKean, “beer is tasty and healthy.” Who could disagree?

joe mikaAs Donald Trump faces the top world leaders this week, including a face-time with Vladimir Putin, and as his healthcare proposals face an uphill climb, his poll numbers for how the nation views him could be better.

According to a morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday morning, his tweets, including that against MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, and his personality are not helping him, at all.

indy dayII know the calendar says we are approaching the 4th of July, but, it just doesn’t feel like Independence Day.

Perhaps it should.  It’s hot as heck.  The airlines have been packed. The hot dogs are ready for grilling.  The umps are saying, "play ball". The patriotic activities are scheduled. The fireworks are ready-for-blasting.

Yet, it just doesn’t feel like independence day.

bill rights2To President Thomas Jefferson, July 4th celebrated more than the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He thought it was a link to the future. The message prominent colonists sent to King George III led to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the initial and most prominent feature of which is the First Amendment that guarantees free speech. It’s part of the country’s fundamental essence that each man and woman can say what they feel about government, or anything else, proving President Donald Trump needs some civics lessons.
