What Would Nungesser, Dardenne Most Like To See If Elected Louisiana Lt. Governor
Written by

Nungesser-DardenneIn this segment of the Alliance For Good Government forum Tuesday night, the candidates for Louisiana Lt. Governor Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser and incumbent Jay Dardenne were asked if elected what would be the one thing they would like to accomplish over the next four years

The following are rough summaries of their comments.

Please watch the video to see what they actually said:

Nungesser:

Go to every major company in this state and ask them for their vendor lists and to ask them to use Louisiana companies and if they are getting products from out of the state, we would ask those companies to locate here.

To have a team effort to analyze the budget and not to make political cuts but to have team effort of citizens and business people to tighten up (spending) and straighten up the taxes to make it more attractive for business and for people to retire here.

Regarding tourism, need to put the team together to decide how to spend the money and to provide for local people in the state.

Dardenne

The team is already in place and folks in tourism are behind my re-election.  The answer to the question asked is to see an increase to ten and hopefully 20 percent in revenues derived from tourism.  Every dollar invested returns twenty.  This is an industry that has not been galvanized in the past.  Tourism is business and jobs for Louisiana.

From the time I have been in office, we have increased employment in tourism by five percent, that is real jobs for people in Louisiana performed in Louisiana and at the same time to welcoming people into the state to invest here and hopefully to retire here.

wag edwards tweetIn the age of rapid response, social media, President and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry took to twitter to apparently poke the Democrat Governor and to promote his own tour of his own legislative package, or legislative outlook tour, beginning today.

Today, Stephen Waguespack of LABI tweeted in response to The Advocate’s Tyler Bridges article that John Bel Edwards would be delaying his release of his tax overhaul package that was scheduled for today.

quin hillyer health 5Have the conservative Freedom Caucus and advocacy organizations such as Freedom Works and Heritage Action "screwed the American people"?

That's the feeling expressed by at least one long-time conservative Republican, who, as millions of others were outraged by the destruction of the Obamacare "repeal" and replacement, on Friday.

comey sitThe GOP will likely claim that the bogus “ Assisted suicide counseling” will still be covered since Obamacare remains the law of the land. That’s good news for GOP legislators who planned on voting “yes” on its repeal. The rich, also, should be happy the old law remains because they have wounds that need tending after the mega tax breaks for them that were inserted in Trumpcare went the way of leeching. The failure to repeal, of course, is the Democrats fault. Trump said so, but he has reason to be happy, too. The health care debacle managed, if just for an hour, or two, to deflect attention away from Russia.
