Jindal, Georges, Young Key Figures At Ribbon Cutting For Freshy Foods In Jefferson Parish
Written by

Freshy-jindal-georgesLouisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Jefferson Parish President John Young, businessman John Georges, and various government officials and business leaders helped officially launch a new USDA fresh food manufacturing facility, Freshy Foods, located at 508 Timesaver Blvd. in Elmwood.

Freshy Foods opened in 2009 as a manufacturer of fresh pre-packaged food with the goal to develop products and programs to meet the fresh food needs of foodservice stores and convenient store customers.

After a year of rapid growth, Freshy Foods began to look for a larger facility. After reviewing sites across the Gulf Coast, they met with Jefferson Parish officials and JEDCO who convinced them to move to the Elmwood Business Park in Harahan.

Freshy Foods will have a significant economic impact in Jefferson Parish. In this new location the company will add over 200 jobs to the region over the next few years.

Multi-millionaire, John Georges, owner of Imperial Trading and former gubernatorial New Orleans mayoral candidate has invested  in the Freshy Foods operation and was instrumental in the new Jefferson Parish

The new location also allows the company to be closer to its Direct Store Delivery (DSD) distributors Imperial Trading Company, McLane Company, Inc., and Lyons Specialty Co. The modern USDA approved facility will allow the company to produce fresh foods for 15 states through its DSD Distributors across the south.

Freshy Foods Owner Floyd James. "We are very happy to be in Jefferson Parish and eager to begin our work in the business community."

wag edwards tweetIn the age of rapid response, social media, President and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry took to twitter to apparently poke the Democrat Governor and to promote his own tour of his own legislative package, or legislative outlook tour, beginning today.

Today, Stephen Waguespack of LABI tweeted in response to The Advocate’s Tyler Bridges article that John Bel Edwards would be delaying his release of his tax overhaul package that was scheduled for today.

quin hillyer health 5Have the conservative Freedom Caucus and advocacy organizations such as Freedom Works and Heritage Action "screwed the American people"?

That's the feeling expressed by at least one long-time conservative Republican, who, as millions of others were outraged by the destruction of the Obamacare "repeal" and replacement, on Friday.

comey sitThe GOP will likely claim that the bogus “ Assisted suicide counseling” will still be covered since Obamacare remains the law of the land. That’s good news for GOP legislators who planned on voting “yes” on its repeal. The rich, also, should be happy the old law remains because they have wounds that need tending after the mega tax breaks for them that were inserted in Trumpcare went the way of leeching. The failure to repeal, of course, is the Democrats fault. Trump said so, but he has reason to be happy, too. The health care debacle managed, if just for an hour, or two, to deflect attention away from Russia.
