brees-packThe New Orleans Saints topped a penalty-prone Detroit Lions football team in the Mercedes Benz Superdome shown on Sunday Night Football, 31-17.

The Saints’s victory puts New Orleans two full games ahead of  its division rival, Atlanta Falcons.

Throughout the game, the Lions made mental mistakes resulting in officials’ flags which made it even more difficult for the Detroit to beat the pass-minded Drew Brees offensive attack.

The loss for Detroit sent its record to 7-5.  New Orleans improved to 9-3.

The  Lion’s defeat helped clinch the NFC North title for the Green Bay Packers.
