Manning Proves He, New York Giants Are ELIte
Written by

eli-manningEli Manning solidified his status as an "elite" quarterback by leading his underdog Giants to a thrilling 21-17 victory over the Patriots and Tom Brady on Sunday in the Super Bowl at Indianapolis.

Three minutes was all Manning needed to drive the Giants to their second Super Bowl win over the Patriots under his command.

He said he was elite at the start of the season and he proved it with his record-setting performance on Sunday and was crowned the game's MVP for the second time in four years. There is no doubt now that he belongs among the best to play the game.

Eli's dad, Archie, stood outside the Giants' postgame locker room with wife Olivia and older brother Cooper. Peyton Manning not surprisingly in light of his recent verbal sparring with the Colts, watched the game in person, but was nowhere to be found.

Archie said being the first family of Super Bowl MVPs (Eli has two, Peyton 1) has not sunk in.

"We're just kinda pinching ourselves," Archie told several New York sportswriters talking to him after the game. "To be here four times in six years is unbelievable, and for the Giants to win another Super Bowl is pretty much the same fashion as the first is just really special.

"It's amazing, really, because Eli wallowed around so much that we didn't that we didn't even know if he would like sports."

Manning avoided questions about elite quarterbacks and said, "I don't think that's the story. The story is that the New York Giants are the world champs."

With this win, the Giants (9-7 in regular season) have entered the record books. All stats come to you from either ESPN  of Elias Sports Bureau. Here a few:
* Tom Coughlin at 65 is the oldest coach to win a Super Bowl. Not bad for a guy on the hot seat in December.
* The Giants are the first team to win a Super Bowl with a defense ranked under the top 25 in yards allowed during the regular season. Manning is the first quarterback to win two postseason starts against Brady.
* Giants are the first NFC No. 4 seed to win the Super Bowl since 1990.
*Manning is now the third quarterback to engineer two or more game-winning drives in the fourth quarter of a Super Bowl. The other two are Brady and Terry Bradshaw.,
* The Giants are now the fifth team to win four or more Super Bowls.*
* Manning is the only Giants quarterback to win two Super Bowls.
* Manning holds the record for most road or neutral site postseason wins in postseason history with seven.
* Manning joins Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw, Tom Brady and Joe Montana are the five players to win  multiple Super Bowl MVPs.
* Manning ties Joe Montana' for third place with five fourth-quarter postseason winning drives.
* Manning's completion percentage,  75 per cent, is second best all time in postseason with game with 40 attempts or more.
* Manning is second player to complete 30 passes and not throw an interception in Super Bowl.

It looks like there's going to be more censorship of the Super Bowl halftime shows. Rapper M.I.A. decided to show her love for America by giving the NBC camera the middle finger. Everyone was worried about Madonna might ruin the show, but M.I.A. fingered and stole the criticisms.

Eli has talked the talk and will now walk into Canton.
Eli is absolutely ELIte.

mass2On July 4, 1778, George Washington doubled liquor rations for the soldiers quartered in Princeton, NJ, as a way to celebrate Independence Day. It’s fitting, therefore, that the Fourth of July is America's top-selling beer holiday, according to the Beer Institute. It estimated, in 2013, that sales of beer on the 4th could total $1 billion, doubtlessly higher today. “In moderation,” claims a CA brewery investor, Grover McKean, “beer is tasty and healthy.” Who could disagree?

joe mikaAs Donald Trump faces the top world leaders this week, including a face-time with Vladimir Putin, and as his healthcare proposals face an uphill climb, his poll numbers for how the nation views him could be better.

According to a morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday morning, his tweets, including that against MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, and his personality are not helping him, at all.

indy dayII know the calendar says we are approaching the 4th of July, but, it just doesn’t feel like Independence Day.

Perhaps it should.  It’s hot as heck.  The airlines have been packed. The hot dogs are ready for grilling.  The umps are saying, "play ball". The patriotic activities are scheduled. The fireworks are ready-for-blasting.

Yet, it just doesn’t feel like independence day.

bill rights2To President Thomas Jefferson, July 4th celebrated more than the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He thought it was a link to the future. The message prominent colonists sent to King George III led to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the initial and most prominent feature of which is the First Amendment that guarantees free speech. It’s part of the country’s fundamental essence that each man and woman can say what they feel about government, or anything else, proving President Donald Trump needs some civics lessons.
