However, in New Orleans, matters were not so cheery. Michael Bromwich who is now the director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement when questioned by Louisiana and local government officials about the further existence of the deep oil drilling moratorium in the same gulf, the Obama administration official overseeing the moratorium and other related matters said “lifting the moratorium is "not ripe."
Bromwich further said his agency needs additional time to finalize safety regulations that would be rolled out in weeks. He also said it was unlikely that his agency would make recommendations about shortening the moratorium while the public forums across the nation are occurring.
The event today at Tulane University kicked off his series of public meetings which will take place in designated cities across the nation.
