According to various news sources, Jonathan Vilma and lawyers for the NFL arrived at federal court in New Orleans Monday for a settlement conference in Vilma's lawsuit. The linebacker hopes to reverse his season-long suspension in the Saints bounty investigation.
The conference was closed to the public.


Vilma has been suspended for the 2012 season due to NFL claims being made against him. Vilma also has filed a defamation lawsuit against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.


Brett Favre will be back in football this season -- as an assistant high school coach at Oak Grove, Miss. The school is near Hattiesburg, where Favre lives. He has worked out with Oak Grove players in past seasons. The Biloxi Star-Herald reported that Favre, 42, is expected to be the offensive coordinator. Oak Grove head coach Nevil Barr told the AP he has talked about a possible role for Favre on the coaching staff, though a job title hasn't been defined. Favre has helped Oak Grove in an unofficial capacity in previous years...
