Sen. Landrieu slams Tea Party over shutdown, GOP dares Landrieu about Reid
Written by

Congress-house floorDemocratic Louisiana US Senator Mary Landrieu has called the Tea Party “reckless”, “irresponsible” and “radical” for the US government shutdown.

Landrieu, who headed a press conference at the Capitol today as the chair of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, along with  Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., and small business owners,  said the shutdown should end before conference negotiations begins.

She also said that the Tea Party wants to shut down the government.

In her attacks against the Tea Party, she said that the group has gone from the nation’s capitol to  Main Street and that banks, small businesses, military installations small business loans are being impacted by their “shenanigans”.

The Senator said that $93 million dollars in loan every day throughout the nation  have been stopped including $500,000 daily to Louisiana.

Earlier today, the Republican National Senator Committee circulated an email asking “Does Landrieu stand by Reid?”

Reid on helping child with cancer: “Why would we want to do that?”

Moments ago, Majority Leader Harry Reid hit a new low.

When asked by CNN why he isn’t willing to help even one child who has cancer, Reid responded: “Why would we want to do that?”

This is not an exaggeration. How out-of-touch and heartless can Senate Democrats be?

We’ve been calling for Harry Reid to be retired for quite some time now, but Reid's bombastic remarks are simply unacceptable. It’s time to #RetireReid.

A vote for Mary Landrieu is a vote for Harry Reid. Does Mary Landrieu continue to support heartless Harry Reid?

The video, however, shows that Reid's response also included these comments "Why would we want to do that?  I have 1100 people at Dulles Air Force Base sitting home.  They have problems of their own."

He also criticized Dana Bash for asking the question.

catRarely, have I seen few issues that have generated as much raw heat, tension, and passion than the Confederate monuments controversy.

Just as existed during the real civil war, where brothers battled brothers, social media is the battleground, particularly Facebook, pitting friend against friend.

On one side of the tense divide, there are those who are protecting the New Orleans civil war era monuments.  Burnt in effigy, forever, is the symbol of Mayor Mitch Landrieu for up-ending what the monument protectors consider to be the loving civil society of New Orleans.

Lately, events have turned somewhat militaristic.

Some protectors of the Confederate monuments have been staying vigilant, in person and online, even surveilling during the wee hours of the morning, waiting for the next Mayor Landrieu attack. On Sunday morning, with protections of snipers, masked workers and a dumbstruck audience, the worst of all of the monuments was cut and carried., the Liberty Monument.
