Vikings coach Leslie Frazier has been assured he'll be back next season despite a 5-14 record as the team's head coach. Currently 2-11, the Vikings are closing on the worst season in franchise history. With three more losses in games against the Saints, Redskins and Bears, the Vikings will finish 2-14.
Frazier said after Sunday's loss to the Lions that Christian Ponder will be his starting quarterback. Ponder exited Sunday's game with four turnovers, giving him 13 for the season. He threw three interceptions against the Lions and would have thrown six with better hands in the Lions’s secondary.
The Vikings still have 3,500 tickets to see Sunday's game a Mall of America Field.
One NFL scout has the Vikings drafting LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne with the third over-all pick in the draft. Claiborne isn't worthy of the pick, but he would fill an area of concern with the Vikings.
Les Miles will definitely be pursued by NFL teams at the end of the season. Three NFL coaches this season are already gone and a number of others could be shown the door.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel lists Miles as a possible candidate for the opening with the Dolphins.
