Written by  {ga=staffwriters} // Friday, 15 October 2010 09:03 //

staton1Banged up McNeese State heads into Tiger Stadium for their first meeting with No. 9 LSU on Saturday at 6 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Network.

"This game is a tough task for us," judged McNeese coach Matt Viator, "Anytime you play a good football team, in a tough atmosphere and maybe a minus a few of your good players, it's always going to be tough. But our kids are excited. It's a great opportunity for us to go over and play. We'll do the best we can."

McNeese will also pick up $750,000 for playing in Tiger Stadium.

"I have always had a lot of respect for coach Les Miles, said Viator. "He has been good for the coaching profession in Louisiana.

"They have a great team with great players. It's amazing what coach John Chavis has done on defense, what he has put together, They have a lot of speed and run the ball and like a coach put it, they don't nice. They don't line up the same way and are constantly pressuring. I've never seen anybody do what they do on defense. They continue to run good players in down after down after down.

"Special teams wise they are very good as well. Patrick Robinson is unbelievable and the corner team is good as well, On the offense, in the last two weeks they've turned in good performances and their formula for playing both Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee is working. They've got excellent athletes at wide receiver, the offensive line is good and one of the best players on their team, I think is  their fullback Stevan Ridley, That guy is really good."

Prediction" There is no line on the game but I see the Tigers winning 38-3.

Other college picks: Tulsa -19 over Tulane; Miami (Fla,) -19 1/2 over Duke; Clemson -15 over Maryland; Southern Miss 14 1/2 over Memphis; Boise State -39 1/2 over San Jose State; Ohio State -4 over Wisconsin; Iowa -3 over Michigan (best bet);  South Carolina -5 over Kentucky; Texas +9 1/2 over Nebraska; Ole Miss +21 over Alabama.
