New Orleans Saints’ Reggie Bush Calls Fumble against Dallas, A Mental Error
Written by  // Friday, 26 November 2010 09:17 //

With the Saints leading 17-0 in the first quarter, this game looked like a snoozer, but the defending Super Bowl champions went into a lull, playing as if they had this game assured. The fumble by Reggie Bush increased the Cowboy's momentum.  Also, the Cowboys have been a different team since Jason Garrett replaced Wade Phillips as head coach on Nov. 8, worked on a comeback that had a lead with just 5:51 remaining.

Here are some comments about the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys match--

What the Saints said:

Safety Malcolm Jenkins (On his strip) "The entire fourth quarter our mentality was to get the offense another possession. After I ripped the ball out it fell right into my stomach and the only thing I could say about that  is 'God is good.'"

Quarterback Drew Brees (On the strip) "What a headsy play. We were very calm. We knew we needed some big plays, but you could see all the eyes in the huddle we knew we could do it."

Receiver Lance Moore (On scoring the game-winning TD) "As soon as Coach Payton called the play I knew I was the primary receiver and I knew the ball was coming to me. They gave us a look we weren't ready for, but you have to adjust."

Running back Reggie Bush (On fumbling the punt) "{quote}I felt like the fumble was just a mental error on my part{/quote} that nine times out of 10 I won't make again the second time around. It did feel good to get back out there and get my feet wet. Hopefully, I can bounce back next week."

What the Cowboys said:

Coach Jason Garrett (On the loss) "We demonstrated again what we've done the last few weeks -- battle and fight. There were a lot of things to be proud of. Guys played with a lot of passion, energy and enthusiasm.  But you've got to get to the bottom line right. We didn't get it done. When you play the Saints, you try to keep Brees on the sideline."

Receiver Roy Williams (On having the ball stripped) "I lost the ball game. I let my teammates down. I need to fall down. We run the clock down and win the game. I was trying to make a play and they did a good job."

Quarterback Jon Kitna (On the game) "It's a game that if you let it, will rip your heart out. You're going to have stuff like this where you feel you played well enough to win and you didn't. I'm about as disappointed as you can get."

Cornerback Terrance Newman (On give up the long pass to Robert Meachem) "I'll take the blame for the loss. For Roy Williams to put it on him, I'll put it on me. You know what? I didn't even see the ball thrown. I've got to make a play."

Tight end Jason Whitten (On the game) "We thought we had them of the ropes at the end."

The win over Florida on Oct. 9 gave LSU its sixth win this season,  thus making the Tigers bowl eligible for  a school record 11th straight year.
Since the start of the 2000 season, LSU has played in the BCS National Championship  twice (2003, 2007), played in the Chic-fil-A Peach Bowl (2000, 2005,2008), Sugar Bowl (2001, 2003, 2006), Cotton Bowl (2002) and Capital One Bowl (2004, 2009) in consecutive years...Saints rookie tight end Jimmy Graham dropped several passes against Dallas and isn't quite ready for starting duty. The ball bounced off his hands and into the hands of Cowboys safety Gerald Sensabaugh, leading to the Cowboys' go-ahead score...Dallas quarterback Jon Vilma threw often at rookie cornerback Patrick Robinson when he was in the game. Graham  and Robinson are future stars, but they haven't yet reached that level,,,

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and Arkansas linebacker Jerico Nelson were teammates at Destrehan High and graduated together in 2008. They played together on Destrehan's 2007 team that won the 5A state title with a 15-0 record. Said Nelson of Jefferson: "He's starting to get more comfortable, more comfortable in their system and with how their coach (offensive  coordinator Gary Crowton) wants to run his system. He's starting to read defenses better. When we go out for pregame, I'll see him.. I'll talk to him for about a minute and catch up."...Overheard at a local retail outlet: "No, I don't work here. I'm a consultant."
