Mrs. Obama said that her husband did deliver on his promises of offering hope to the American people, but that now “we are feeling what not having hope feels like.” Of course, Mrs. Obama is hopeless these days because Donald Trump will become our nation’s 45th President and demolish the odious Obama legacy.

Val Kilmer, Marisa Tomei, Evanna Lynch, Anna Kendrick, Ray Charles, Peter Finch, and Viola Davis are adept at scene stealing. They are the ones leading actors watch out for, lest their spotlights be usurped by these, and other, supporting players whose names are farther down in the credits.

surprisePlease keep this quiet; a secret election is set for Saturday May 2 in 28 Louisiana parishes. Politicians set the election on a day in which turnout will be minimal. In New Orleans, a tripling of the library millage is on the ballot during the second weekend of the Jazz Fest, at a time guaranteed to produce a very low turnout. Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler predicted a turnout in “the teens” on May 2. Of course, this is pitiful and goes against our beliefs in encouraging robust voter participation. It seems the last thing Louisiana politicians want is a strong voter turnout.

This is a godsend since our country may not survive another four years of Barack Obama in the White House. Fortunately, more Americans are realizing the damage he has done to our country. This explains why his approval numbers are mired in the low 40's and the prospects for the Democrat Parity in the mid-term elections are not very rosy.

mass2On July 4, 1778, George Washington doubled liquor rations for the soldiers quartered in Princeton, NJ, as a way to celebrate Independence Day. It’s fitting, therefore, that the Fourth of July is America's top-selling beer holiday, according to the Beer Institute. It estimated, in 2013, that sales of beer on the 4th could total $1 billion, doubtlessly higher today. “In moderation,” claims a CA brewery investor, Grover McKean, “beer is tasty and healthy.” Who could disagree?

indy dayII know the calendar says we are approaching the 4th of July, but, it just doesn’t feel like Independence Day.

Yet, it just doesn’t feel like independence day.

bill rights2To President Thomas Jefferson, July 4th celebrated more than the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He thought it was a link to the future. The message prominent colonists sent to King George III led to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the initial and most prominent feature of which is the First Amendment that guarantees free speech. It’s part of the country’s fundamental essence that each man and woman can say what they feel about government, or anything else, proving President Donald Trump needs some civics lessons.
