Health_reform.jpgThe United Sates Supreme Court has begun hearing oral arguments on the constitutionality of the “Affordable Care Act” commonly known as Obama Care which has sparked an unprecedented uprising and debate among Americans.  The decision by the court will chart the future of health care in America and will decide whether future health decisions will be between doctors and patients or by the federal government.

Saints fleurThe hammer has fallen on the New Orleans Saints, and the cost is heavy.  It’s a public relations disaster.  Coach Sean Payton is gone for one year and fined.  Mickey Loomis and Joe Vitt are suspended and fined, the Saints have lost draft picks, the team is fined, and the arrogance of some inside the organization has cost Saints fans a heavy price.  So what’s next?

Romney Gaffes Trumping the Field

romney

Following the outcome of the Republican primary in Florida, the contest moves on to Nevada this weekend as pundits speculate whether the campaign for the Republican nomination for President is all but over and that Mitt Romney is the eventual nominee.  In reality they could be correct if money begins to dry up significantly for Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.  Certainly, Gingrich and Santorum and Ron Paul, for that matter, would love to be in Romney’s shoes today.

Despite Romney’s dominance in the race, Gingrich, Santorum, and Paul are expected to be around for a good while to come, but without money they will not be able to wage an effective campaign.  Other factors will also affect the outcome of the campaign.

bimbo-pizza2Herman Cain has suspended his campaign thanks to several major bimbo eruptions.  No one knows what really happened or who is really telling the truth.  Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between what has been said.  What we do know is that rumors of marital infidelity can kill a political campaign, sometimes.  Unfortunately for Herman Cain, his campaign is now dead.

america-unbeautifulFor weeks the Occupy Wall Street crowd has taken over public and private parks and other venues to protest and camp out, party, and disrupt businesses and the daily activities of everyday citizens.  Finally, local governments are standing up to the protesters and closing them down.  It’s about time.  Free speech is important in America, but these protests are not about free speech.  They are about tearing down the American way of life and the United States of America, the greatest nation in the history of man.

Herman Cain's Bimbo Eruption

bimbo-pizza2.jpgAnthony Weiner.  Bill Clinton.  Mark Sanford.  Even Louisiana is not immune.  It happens all the time.  They do it so often.

Men in powerful positions often find themselves in compromising situations because they have said or done things dealing with their sexual escapades that cost them dearly.  Usually it is the politicians we hear about, and the results can be catastrophic.  The latest idiot move to come to light is by Republican Presidential hopeful Herman Cain.

JindalThe statewide campaigns are over, the results are in, and Gov. Bobby Jindal has won a smashing victory over a field of 9 opponents. In other races Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne has won; and, in a race some are calling an upset, incumbent Secretary of State Tom Schedler was elected to a full four year term. So what happens next?

Bobby Jindal has a mandate from the people of Louisiana, and it is up to him to see that mandate through. First on the governor’s agenda will be to make certain that he has the votes on the BESE Board to continue his education reforms. Two key elections remain, one in Baton Rouge and one here in New Orleans. Both have reform candidates who ran first and both are poised to win their individual runoffs on November 19th. Assuming this happens Bobby Jindal will have the votes he needs to push his agenda through the BESE Board.

laurel-hardyTo paraphrase Oliver Hardy’s famous line to Stan Laurel, “Here’s another nice mess we’ve gotten ourselves into!”

It seems that Herman Cain is not the only Republican candidate who has girlfriend issues.  According to his second wife, Marianne, and ABC News, Newt Gingrich carried on an extra-marital affair with his aide, now wife number three, Callista, while he was still married to Marianne, even going so far as to ask Marianne if she would agree to share him in an “open marriage.”  What an ego!
