Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Sir Walter Scott (Marmion, 1808)
It is election time again and U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and most of the other Democrat Senate candidates are campaigning on a moderate platform that does not correspond to their liberal voting record.
Even in their darkest hour, Democrats can still count on one group to support them, Hollywood. The land of make believe is filled with hopelessly liberal fools who continue to give major donations to Democrat Party leaders. In recent days, Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama have benefitted from lavish Hollywood fundraisers.
For years liberals like New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu have been advocating programs such as midnight basketball as ways to reduce crime. Supposedly, young people with no ambition, moral values or job will be turned away from crime by the opportunity to shoot hoops. It sounds ridiculous, and, of course, it does not work, but the program helps the liberals feel good about what they are doing to fight the crime problem in New Orleans.
The epidemic that has devastated Western Africa has now arrived in the United States. In recent weeks, several infected healthcare workers have been flown back to the United States for successful treatment. However, a greater threat looms from ordinary citizens knowingly or unknowingly bringing the disease to our country.
Once again, political correctness has reared its ugly head. A case of domestic Islamic terrorism has been labeled workplace violence. The tragedy occurred last Thursday in Moore, Oklahoma when Alton Nolen was fired from his job at Vaughan Foods.
President Obama and other politicians are fond of reminding Americans that Islam is a “religion of peace.” Unfortunately, that message is not getting across to the millions of Muslims that adhere to a radical branch of Islam that considers non-believers to be infidels worthy of death. Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy and other experts estimate that 15% or more of 1 billion Muslims worldwide believe in this violent, militant form of Islam. This means there are approximately 150 million Muslims who want to kill Christians, Jews and “moderate” Muslims.
U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu is in the news again for the wrong reason. This time, it is not a controversy about her residency or her campaign flights, but her misguided behavior at the LSU-Mississippi State game last Saturday. Sadly, the Senator decided to participate in a keg stand by pouring beer into the mouth of a kid. Fortunately, the young man was not an underage drinker, but many of those at the keg stand may have been under the age of 21.
This week, both the House and Senate overwhelmingly passed legislation to train, arm and fund the elusive “moderate” Muslim rebels fighting to overthrow the Assad regime in Syria.
It is no wonder that the ratings for the NFL are down this year. The league is in the midst of its worst crisis in decades as it is being hit by one scandal after another. On the heels of the disastrous way it handled the Ray Rice domestic abuse case, the league has completely mishandled the way it treated another star running back, Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings.
Today our country is in the midst of a battle for our survival. We face a well-armed and well -funded terror army, Islamic State, which has grown to 31,500 fighters, including 2,000 from Western nations. President Obama outlined a more aggressive approach in his speech last night to attack the terrorists in Iraq and Syria. Unfortunately, battling the terrorists in the Middle East is not nearly enough. Due to an open border, there is no doubt that the terrorists have already infiltrated this nation.
