"These types of situations are situations that could start and be over within a matter of minutes, and it's really hard to predict where or when these types of things are going to happen," said Lalonde. "So it's a situation where our officers, as well as officers of other agencies, have to be ready to act as soon as they get that call."
Lalonde say no matter how many times they go through these simulations, they always learn something new that could save lives in the future.
"We do have to rely on other agencies that are going to be coming in to assist us. While we're all training on the same tactics, it is a good opportunity too, and it's important to be able to work together and train together for those real life scenarios," said Lalonde.
Lalonde says in the future, they hope to do a larger exercise that would include area fire departments and EMS.
