LAFAYETTE -- Firefighters responded to a blaze early Thursday morning believed to be the eighth arson of a vacant home since June 11.

The home in the 300 block of North Pierce Street was badly damaged in a fire that investigators have determined was intentionally set on the exterior of the building sometime before 2 a.m., according to fire department spokesman Alton Trahan.

No injuries were reported.

All eight fires except the first occurred early in the morning, and all were set while it was dark.

No arrests have been made.
