Ponchatula man arrested on drug charges after trying to run from deputies

TANGIPAHOA, LA (WAFB) - A Ponchatoula man has been arrested on drug charges after he failed to pull over during a traffic stop.

Tangipahoa Sheriff deputies say they saw the man Roy Donald Metz take off at a high rate of speed and they later blocked the roadway to force him to stop. It happened on Aug. 7.

After the 26-year-old exited the vehicle, they saw a gun and illegal narcotics. They later discovered 12 rocks of cocaine hidden in a white container.

Metz was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while I in possession of drugs.
