Injuries sidetracking Saints' revamped secondary

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - If the secondary the Saints envisioned coming into training camp is going to mesh by the regular season, it'll have to happen quickly.

The Saints have been practicing without 12-time Pro Bowl cornerback Champ Bailey since Aug. 1. Cornerback Patrick Robinson, a 2010 first-round draft choice expected to compete with Baily for a starting job, has spent Monday's practice pedaling a stationary bike while working through an unspecified injury that drove him out of practice over the weekend.

Meanwhile, safety Jairus Byrd continues to limit his work to mostly individual drills and avoiding contact which might upset his surgically repaired back.

Payton says he expects Baily and Robinson back soon and has confidence in the potential third-year reserve defensive back Corey White, during their absence.
