SPRINGFIELD, LA (WAFB) -
A woman was arrested for DWI after she hit a buffalo that wandered into the roadway. Additionally, the passenger of her vehicle was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Prior to the crash, the owner called authorities about three buffalo that went missing. The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and Louisiana State Police responded to the call.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash happened at roughly 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug.
12. We're told Karen Frouge, 45, was driving in Livingston Parish around the town of Springfield when she came upon one of the missing bison in the road.
Officials say Frouge was charged by the Louisiana State Police for DWI. Her passenger, Sanford Ray III, was arrested by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office for possession of methamphetamine.
The buffalo hit by Frouge did not survive. The two remaining buffalo were also located. They were unharmed but the owner decided to euthanize them.
