Two groups have teamed up for a new campaign that hopes to raise awareness for the GED and other high school equivalency tests.

The Ad Council and Dollar General Literacy Foundation launched "Skip the Drama, pursue a GED Diploma."

"The campaign is all about letting people know what opportunities are out there, where the resources are and they're there to help," said Denine Torr, the director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

The ad campaign features a number of radio, newspaper and television ads pushing the website www.yourged.org, where individuals can learn about the GED resources available in their specific areas.

"On the website, you can find stories from real life individuals, from the people who've gone through the process and who've taken the GED, so there's a little bit of motivation there and simply finding the resources there," Torr explained.

The foundation also administers grants and this year, thanks to that grant, Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is able to help 60+ more individuals utilize GED and high school equivalency test programs and services.
