BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles opened its second Baton Rouge-area location at the Baton Rouge City Court on Monday.
"This is going to provide an alternative to those who travel to the OMV on Independence Boulevard," said Clerk of Court Lon Norris. "It is convenient for the downtown patrons and also for the people coming into the building. This is a historic building. It's a good place to visit and see historic Baton Rouge.
The office is open daily beginning at 8:30 a.m. The last customer will be seen at 3 p.m. For now, the only services offered will be renewals of existing licenses and vehicle registrations, as well as the reinstatement of driving licenses on suspensions resulting from written promises to appear. Norris said they hope to expand services in 2015.
There is a $5 transaction fee for the services offered at the city court location.
