BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Two men are recovering in a hospital after they were hit by a vehicle Saturday night in the 300 block of North Ardenwood Drive.

Police say 51-year-old Murray Tate of Baton Rouge, the passenger in the vehicle, grabbed the steering wheel during an argument with a woman driver.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Tate told the woman he was "going to fix her" and reached for the wheel, jerked it three times.

This caused the vehicle to veer to the right, across one lane, off the road into a grassy area hitting two men who just crossed the road.

The vehicle then crossed the parking lot of the Chevron gas station and hit the west wall.

According to the report, when police arrived, Tate resisted arrest and struck an officer in the head.

The two pedestrians were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Officers say Tate was displaying signs of impairment and had a BAC of .201g%, which is more than two times the legal limit.
