BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Parents and education leaders that are suing Gov. Bobby Jindal on the Common Core standards testified in court Monday.

Judge Todd Hernandez is expected to make a written ruling on the issue in the next few days, which means the matter could be resolved by the end of the week.

The lawsuit stems from Jindal suspending the contract with the testing company. His lawyer says the governor acted within his rights.

However, the group that filed suit believes Jindal overstepped his reach.

Teachers say they are confused as to what standard of instruction to use in the classroom.

"The governor has approved of Common Core for four years and then, all of a sudden, there's an about-face," said Bill Preis, the attorney for the plaintiffs. "So, without questioning the governor's motive, I want to think court will think about what governor said over four years before there was a sudden reversal.
