Sheriff to hold 5 p.m. news conference on shooting death of 7-year-old

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Sid Gautreaux will hold a 5 p.m. news conference to announce a new development in this weekend's deadly shooting of a 7-year-old boy. WAFB will carry the news conference live on WAFB-TV and on our website, WAFB.com.

Earlier today, the church clergy from north Baton Rouge gathered to address the death of a 7-year-old boy who was shot while riding in the car with his family.

Leaders from several churches gathered together Wednesday morning to offer sincere condolences and prayers to the victim's family. They also want to urge the community to respond constructively to the killing.

During the news conference at Rose Hill Baptist Church, one minister said "it's time to leave these cushy seats and move out into the community.
