Unlike the first day of “qualifying,” when the Secretary of State’s office was packed with protestors, supporters and candidates, the second of three days during which the state accepts the paperwork and fees to get their name on the ballot, has been quiet.
“Qualifying” for the Nov.
4 election continues until Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Zach Dasher, of Calhoun, is running for the 5th Congressional District and was the first to arrive Thursday.
Dasher, 36, is challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Vanc McAllister, R-Swartz, who is expected to qualify later Thursday. The 5th Congressional District includes Monroe and Alexandria and includes the rural parts of the Florida parishes that border Mississippi. He arrived with his wife, Jil, and four children.
