Off-duty deputy stops driver in Watson
DENHAM SPRINGS— A Denham Springs man was arrested on third-offense driving while intoxicated and methamphetamine counts after an off-duty sheriff’s deputy saw him driving recklessly through Watson, State Police said.
The deputy spotted a silver 2005 Nissan Altima running red lights and passing other cars in no-passing zones about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Trooper Jared Sandifer said Wednesday.
The off-duty deputy stopped the vehicle on La. 16 north of La. 1022, and a trooper in the area took over the investigation, Sandifer said.
The driver, 47-year-old David K. Poole, of Denham Springs, refused to perform a field sobriety test, so the trooper arrested him on a count of DWI, Sandifer said.
