BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Several key political races in South Louisiana are now set. Qualifying wrapped up Friday afternoon.
District Attorney Hillar Moore who was the only person who qualified by the 4:30 p.m. deadline will now serve an additional six years in office.
In the U.S. Senate, Incumbent Mary Landrieu will face seven opponents in November to try to win her fourth term in office. Retired Air Force Colonel Rob Maness and Rep. Bill Cassidy are two other contenders in the race.
With Cassidy running for the Senate seat, his seat in the House will go to a new face. Thirteen people have qualified for that race, including former Governor Edwin Edwards.
