A dust-up at the wake of a man recently slain in Shreveport ended with an arrest Friday evening after one man allegedly pulled out a gun.

Shreveport police were called about 7 p.m. to the Bryant Temple Church of Christ in the 6800 block of West Canal Street in the city's Sunset Acres neighborhood. That was where a wake was taking place for Tyrone Youngblood, 30 who was killed last week during a shooting on Valley View Drive.

Investigators with the Shreveport/Caddo Parish Financial Crimes are hoping to identify a man who cashed counterfeit AEP SWEPCO checks at 3 different Thrifty Liquor stores earlier this year.

According to Caddo Crimestoppers spokesperson Sgt. Jim Taliaferro, the checks all cashed on January 14 between 5:20 and 6:15 p.m.

The checks totaled $1,387.54. The locations of the liquor stores were not provided by police.

Police have arrested a Shreveport man in connection with several burglaries committed in the city over about three months.

Glenn Curtis Young Jr., 35 was arrested Tuesday after evidence found during a police probe linked him to at least eight different property crimes.

Shreveport police have tied Curtis to three incidents between January and February in the 200 block of Wall Street.

A Hollygrove man accused in two home invasions faces additional charges after police said a woman identified him as her attacker in another rape.

According to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, investigators said the woman identified James Johnson, 21, as the man who sexually assaulted her near Cleveland Ave. and South Dorgenois St. on April 1. The victim picked him out of a photo lineup.

A spokesman with the New Orleans Police Department said Johnson has confessed to his role in a home invasion on Panola St.

    Former LSU linebacker Tahj Jones is recovering from surgery and remains in serious condition after being shot Friday night by another former LSU football player.

    Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats said Jones, a Sulphur native, was shot Friday night at an apartment complex there by 36-year-old Brandon Winey.

    Coats said the 24-year-old Jones went to the apartment complex to visit a woman and that Winey arrived shortly later to visit the same woman.

    Police said Winey shot Jones in the abdomen during a fight.

    Shreveport police are seeking suspects in connection with a shooting that claimed the life of a man in west Shreveport late Friday night.

    It happened at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Valley View Drive near Jewella Avenue around 9 p.m.

    Officers were called there for a report of a shooting and arrived to find witnesses who reported that a man had been shot following a physical altercation.

    Three men are behind bars after Shreveport police raided a hotel room Thursday afternoon and found pounds of marijuana and hash, and dozens of vials of hashish oil.

    Police said information from an ongoing investigation led them to the hotel, in the 4900 block of Monkhouse Drive, search warrant in hand. There, they found about six pounds of high-grade marijuana, two pounds of hash and 10 ounces of hashish oil.

    A Shreveport woman might have thought she hit the jackpot when she cashed in more than $3,500 in poker chips stolen from a player at a local casino, but it didn't pay off.

    According to the Caddo Sheriff's Office, the victim was playing poker at Sam's Town Casino on March 21 when several El Dorado chips fell from his jacket pocket.
