SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police have identified the woman shot and killed over the weekend in what is believed to have been a domestic dispute that turned deadly, but they say they've released the man initially detained as a possible suspect.

The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday the victim's home in the 3200 block of Sidney Street. The woman, now identified as 55-year-old Ruby Barnette, was shot once in the chest.

WALKER, LA (WAFB) -

A Denham Springs man and a St. Amant woman were arrested Friday night by Walker Police after a 6-month-old child was found locked in a hot car in the Walker Walmart parking lot.

Police say 35-year-old Billy Arthur Henry, Jr. and 32-year-old Lana Wallace Henry were arrested on charges of child cruelty, possession of controlled dangerous substances and related offenses.

Captain John Sharp with the Walker Police Department says they were called to the parking lot around 7:15 p.m.

While the number of murders in Baton Rouge so far this year closely compare to the 2013 statistics, one community is particularly seeing a spike. Officials say crime is creeping from the 70805 zip code and into the 70802 area.

The teenagers of the community are the eyes and ears in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Baton Rouge. Police, crime tape and murder is reality for them.

Stepfon Washington, who grew up in the 70805 zip code says he remembers living in fear.

A second domestic dispute this weekend led to violence in Shreveport.

Police said a jealous rage led Shenikia Hall, 20, to stab her boyfriend, 29-year-old Brian Green early Sunday morning.

The stabbing happened at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Greenwood Lane. Officers found Green there with a severe cut to his neck.

Police are searching for a suspect they said fired shots Sunday afternoon at a Shreveport business.

One of those shots struck a bystander, injuring his hand. Police said the wound was not considered to be life threatening but he was taken to University Health Shreveport.

According to police, a gray Dodge sedan and a red Dodge sedan were traveling southbound on Linwood Avenue near Corbitt Street just after 2 p.m.

One man was injured after a shooting Sunday afternoon just west of I49 in Shreveport.

According to police, two cars pulled into the parking lot of a nearby tire business at the same time. One person got out of one of the cars and fired shots at someone in the other car.

During the fray, a tire shop employee was shot in the hand.

NEW ORLEANS (WAFB) -

According to an update from NOPD, nine people were injured in the shooting that took place on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Sunday morning. The shooting happened in the 700 block of Bourbon Street just before 3:00 am.

Police say the nine victims have been taken to an area hospital, seven of them are in stable condition while one is listed in critical. The condition of the ninth victim is still unknown.

Shreveport police are looking for a man they say burglarized a car last week.

Investigators say in the early-morning hours of June 19, a man entered the carport area of a home in the 6400 block of Creswell Avenue and took items from the victim's car, including cash.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $300 reward for information leading to the arrest of man responsible.

According to police, witnesses said they saw two people shooting at a car the victim was in at the Old Salem Apartments.

The car then drove over to the Blue Ridge Mobile Home Community.

The victim, believed to be in her early 20s, was wounded in the mid-section and taken to an area hospital, said Cpl.
