BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana is among the 17 states where electronic payments for food stamps are failing.
Xerox Corp. says the electronic benefits system experienced a temporary shutdown Saturday during a routine test of the company's backup systems.
Officials say the problem is not related to the partial shutdown of the federal government.
Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services says the problems are temporary.
Grocery stores in several Louisiana cities say they've had problems with customers being unable to pay for food.
