BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal highlighted the 2014 Louisiana Sales Tax Holiday which begins Friday, August 1 and ends Saturday, August 2 at midnight. On both of these days, most retail purchases are exempt from the four-percent state sales tax. Governor Jindal encouraged families to take advantage of this time to purchase school supplies and other materials for the upcoming school year.

Governor Jindal said, “With school quickly approaching for our children in Louisiana, the sales tax holiday is a great opportunity for families to purchase any back-to-school supplies their children may need for the upcoming school year. Whether buying school materials or looking to make a bigger purchase, we encourage everyone to take advantage of this holiday and visit local stores this weekend.
