Registration has wrapped for Hamilton County students getting ready for the first day of school, and those students are also in store a few changes to the way they do testing.
Once students step inside, teachers will follow Tennessee's timeline for shifting toward Common Core standards in all subjects.
High school student Daniel Willard will be a junior at Chattanooga High School's Center for Creative Arts, and his family expressed concerns about the changes.
"I'm nervous, but I think most people are nervous going into any new grade or any new thing for that matter," said Willard.
Daniel and his mother Lisa Deerman said they're also nervous about Common Core.
It's a set of standards in the headlines recently, including NewsChannel9's Town Hall forum.
"I'm really concerned about the lack of knowledge and what's been sent home to the parents," said Deerman.
