First day to qualify for the Louisiana November election

It’s the first day to qualify for the Louisiana Nov. 4 election. The Caddo Clerk of Court’s office was filled with people.

So far, there are three candidates running to be the next Shreveport mayor- Ollie Tyler, Sam Jenkins, and Patrick Williams.

Other races in Caddo Parish include City Council, District Judge, City Judge, Constable, Justice of Peace, City Marshal and the Caddo School Board.

Besides the Shreveport mayoral race, there's a lot of competition for vacant district judge seats. The race with the most candidates so far - Caddo School Board Dist. 8.

"We've had about 50 people qualify this morning already and we're expecting around 100, maybe 150, depending on how many people qualify for each office,” said Kara McClung, Caddo Deputy Clerk.
