The event will be held at KIPP Central City Academy on 2514 Third Street. Participant check-in begins at 11:30 am.
"The people of New Orleans said they wanted more officers on our streets, so we funded five new recruit classes in the 2014 Budget and we're hiring," Landrieu said. "This is another step to recruit talented men and women in our city for promising careers that keep our neighborhoods safe."
Individuals who are actively seeking employment within the police department are invited to attend strongly encouraged to pre-register for the special recruitment event at nola.gov/joinnopd or to connect with the NOPD Recruitment Office at (504) 658-5575.
The New Orleans Police Department, in collaboration with the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, launched an active recruitment campaign called "Get Behind the Badge" in 2013. Today, job seekers can apply online for the police department and learn about the entire recruitment process at www.joinnopd.org.
Applicants must be at least 20 years of age, have obtained a high school diploma or a state approved G.E.D.; and have at least 60 hours of college credits, or the equivalent of two years of full service in the military.
