BP contractor agreement contributes to rise in Grand Isle ambulance service revenues, audit finds

Grand Isle's ambulance service saw a $267,426 increase in revenues last year in part, due to a contract with a private entity, according to its annual

audit. A BP contractor hired the department for "stand-by'' medical services, paying the agency $250,403, according to the 2013 financial review conducted by certified public accountant Paul Rivera.

The department also received $342,600 from property taxes, a $30,600 or 10 percent increase over 2012, the audit found. Jefferson Parish levies
