NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -
Christian Brothers School in City Park and St. Anthony Padua Catholic School in Mid-City are combining to create a new school in order to be compliant with the Office of Catholic Schools' strategic plan, according to a spokesperson with the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
The plan calls for the campus in the 4600 block of Canal St. to be renamed St. Anthony of Padua: A Christian Brothers School. Starting in the 2016-2017 school year, the schools will offer a co-ed elementary for pre-K4 through the fourth grade, an all-girls middle school for grades five through seven at the Canal St.
Campus and an all-boys middle school for grades five through seven at the City Park campus.
Christian Brothers currently runs a fifth through seventh grade school for boys at City Park.
"This is about more than being compliant. We want to design a program to best serve the young people of New Orleans," Christian Brothers Principal Joey Scaffidi said.
