NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas said Tuesday that police believe they know who was in the car involved in Sunday's drive-by shooting in the Lower Ninth Ward, but they need the public to help identify the shooter.

Serpas made his comments at a news conference in front of the new 5th District headquarters. He said that residents should not think that what is being released publicly is the sum total of what police know.

He said once someone steps up with information that confirms the identity of the shooter, police will be able to move very quickly with the case.

Two people were killed - including the man whom police think was the intended target - and five were injured. Three of those injured include two toddlers and their mother. All remain in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting was drug-related.

The reward for information in the case is $5,000.
