Parts of Mandeville under boil advisory

A boil advisory has been issued for parts of Mandeville.

While performing emergency water repair on Tuesday, Tammany Utilities states they were forced to turn off water for several hours.

The affected customers are located on Tortouse Drive, Joan Street, Owl Court, Fox Court and a portion of Garon Drive.

A precautionary boil advisory is in place until service is restored. The utility company states the advisory has been placed out of caution and in accordance with the Department of Health and Hospital Regulations.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation.

St. Tammany Parish recommends boiling water for one full minute. The minute starts after the water has been brought to a full boil.

Officials say the earliest the boil advisory could be rescinded is Thursday.
