Trung Le, the 21-year-old Belle Chasse man accused of being one of two gunmen in a shootout on Bourbon Street last month that killed one person and injured nine others, was indicted Thursday in Orleans Parish Criminal Court on one count of manslaughter and one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Le’s bond was set at $1.5 million. He allegedly opened fire June 29 at about 4 a.m. in the 700 block of Bourbon Street. Videos filmed from nearby security cameras captured a dramatic exchange of gunfire between two men that sent revelers diving into nearby bars for cover.

Police have yet to arrest or name a second suspect in the shooting.

Brittany Thomas, a 21-year-old Hammond nursing student, died days after the shooting.

U.S. Marshals and New Orleans police arrested Le on July 4 near Gulfport, Mississippi, where he apparently fled after the shooting. He was later extradited from Mississippi.

Though he had no previous criminal history in Orleans Parish, Le pleaded guilty in 2013 to marijuana charges that stemmed from a traffic stop in Terrytown in November 2011.
