Saying it has been quite a week for Plaquemine High defensive lineman Davon Godchaux would be an understatement.
Godchaux received a scholarship offer from LSU on Wednesday afternoon. The offer comes four days after the 6-foot-4, 265-pound senior-to-be received an offer from another Southeastern Conference power, defending national champion Alabama.
“This one is shocking for me,” Godchaux said. “The coaches had said all along they were evaluating me, so I figured it (offer) wouldn’t come until next month at the LSU camp.

The merger of O. Perry Walker and L.B. Landry was madeofficial Tuesday as a state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education committeemoved forward with the proposal first announced in late 2011.
There were numerous changes met with considerable opposition, including the schools' students joining for classes in Landry's new $56 million building, as well as the namechange to Landry Walker.
Students showed support for the merger this week by donning Landry Walker t-shirts with its new slogan: "Together.
Delgado has appointed the program's third athletic director, baseball coach Joe Scheuermann.
The son of program founder Louis "Rags" Scheuermann will maintain his role as baseball coach that he's held since 1990, and take over as athletic director July 1 for Tommy Smith, who will retire June 30 after 27 years at the helm and 31 total at Delgado.
"It's a great honor to be given the opportunity to lead and continue the great tradition of Delgado athletics," Joe Scheuermann said in a news release.
The New Orleans Zephyrs (36-37) will take on the Oklahoma City Redhawks (37-32) on Wednesday night at Zephyr Field in Game 2 of a 4-game homestand. The Zephyrs lost Tuesday night, 3-1.
