Back to back to back.
The Karr Cougars are headed to a fourth consecutive appearance in Class 4A football’s state championship game and in hindsight the biggest hurdle faced by the reigning state champions Friday night came in getting to the stadium on time.
Arriving late at City Park’s Tad Gormley Stadium due to heavy traffic congestion on the West Bank that necessitated a 26-minute delay of the opening kickoff, the Cougars proved to be fast starters in rushing for three first-half touchdowns to methodically dispatch their Algiers rivals from Landry-Walker, 29-0.
Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. -- I thought the advice last week forthe New Orleans Saints from my two U.S. Army Ranger clients on a combat-likestrategy to defeat the Seattle Seahawks last Monday night would pay off.
Oh, how I was wrong.
Now with the Saints set to go up against the Carolina Panthersand quarterback Cam Newton in a critical NFC South matchup Sunday night in theMercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans needs all the help it can get.
Pulling down 20 rebounds for the second straight regular season game against the Dallas Mavericks, and adding 16 point in the New Orleans Pelicans' 100-97 loss on Wednesday night, it seems Al-Farouq Aminu has taken a huge step in cementing his staring small forward spot.
Aminu had a monster game on the glass Wednesday night, and was effective offensively as well.
He appeared to be uncharacteristically charged up against the Mavs and it paid dividends.
Did Wednesday night's game solidify his starting spot?
We invite your responses.
Welcome to the final regular season LSU Film Study of 2013. Bleary-eyed, I welcome the break until the bowl edition.
LSU started fast against the Razorbacks but seemed to hit a lull, which has happened before against the Hogs. Offensively, the Tigers scored the first two times they had the ball and made Arkansas look ready to be overrun. But then things started to happen, penalties, sacks, turnovers and injuries to five players, and before long, Arkansas was ahead.

BEIJING, China -- China has punished almost 20,000 officials in the last year for breaching rules to cut down on bureaucracy as well as pomp and ceremony, the government said on Monday.
President Xi Jinping ordered the crackdown late last year when he became head of the ruling Communist Party, seeking to assuage public anger at waste and extravagance, particularly officials seen abusing their position to illegally amass wealth.
Trey Quinn would have liked to lead Barbe to a state title this season, but the Acadiana Rams thwarted Quinn's ability to do so with a 27-17 victory over the Buccaneers Friday night.
However, the senior wide receiver can't be dissatisfied with his personal achievements this season and over his four-year career as a starter at Barbe. With a 109-yard, two-touchdown performance in Barbe's loss to Acadiana in the Class 5A quarterfinals, the LSU commitment finished the season with 1967 receiving yards and 23 receiving touchdowns.
The New Orleans Saints are one game behind Monday's opponent, the Seattle Seahawks, in the race for the best record in the NFC. What makesthe Saints' three-game winning streak all more impressive is that the wins werewithin 12 days, the most recent coming at Atlanta on Thursday, Nov. 21.
Winning comes at a cost, though, such as arriving home fromthe victory in Atlanta in the early hours of Friday morning, followed by areduced work day running and lifting weights to maintain what depleted strengthSaints players still possessed.

Tulane coach Ed Conroy may want to destroy the game tape of Wednesday afternoon’s 68-58 victory against NCAA Division II opponent Cedarville at Devlin Fieldhouse and swear the 2,000 school children who attended the contest to complete secrecy. Otherwise the Green Wave might be seeing a lot of zone this season.
The Yellow Jackets gave the undefeated Wave (4-0) fits with their 2-1-2 zone defense, holding Tulane to 39 percent shooting from the field (23 of 59) and eight of 24 from 3-point range.
