BATON ROUGE, La. -- No. 2 LSU (39-6, 16-5 SEC) lost its first series of the season Sunday, falling to No. 10 South Carolina (33-12, 13-8 SEC) by a score of 4-0 at Alex Box Stadium.
 
The paid attendance figure for the LSU-South Carolina series totaled 35,257, a new all-time high at Alex Box Stadium for a three-game series.
 
LSU continues its eight-game homestand against McNeese State Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the Geaux Zone at LSUSports.net and LSU Sports Radio Network affiliates.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- No. 2 LSU (39-5, 16-4 SEC) fell to No. 10 South Carolina (31-12, 12-8 SEC) by a score of 4-2 in front of 10,246 fans in attendance at Alex Box Stadium, marking the largest regular-season actual attendance figure in school history.
 
The paid attendance figure of 12,727 was the largest in stadium history, surpassing the mark of 12,373 established in this season’s opening game versus Maryland.
 
Saturday’s loss snapped the Tigers’ 21-game win streak at “The Box.” LSU is 27-2 at home this year and its only other Alex Box Stadium loss came to BYU (9-4) on February 23.
 
LSU and South Carolina conclude their three-game series Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will air on ESPN and on LSU Sports Radio Network affiliates.

Nola pitches LSU past South Carolina

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Sophomore right-hander Austin Nola (8-0) threw his third consecutive complete game Friday at Alex Box Stadium, lifting No. 2 LSU (39-4, 16-3 SEC) to a 5-2 victory over No. 10 South Carolina (31-12, 11-8 SEC).

The Tigers’ 39-4 overall mark is the best 43-game record in school  history, and LSU’s 16-3 league record is the school’s best conference mark since the 1986 club  was also 16-3.

Nola became the first LSU pitcher to throw three straight complete games since left-hander Greg Smith in 2005, who accomplished the same feat against Ole Miss, Arkansas and Vanderbilt. Nola allowed two runs on six hits Friday while striking out eight in his nine-inning performance. 

Nola won for the eighth time this season in eight decisions as he limited the Gamecocks to two runs on six hits

BATON ROUGE, La. -- No. 2 LSU (38-4) erased a 2-1 deficit with three runs in the sixth inning, propelling the Tigers to a 4-3 victory over Tulane (20-21) Wednesday at Alex Box Stadium.
 
The victory improved LSU’s win streak over in-state opponents to 25 games. The Tigers have also won 32 straight mid-week games, dating back to April 12, 2011, when LSU dropped a 5-2 decision to Northwestern State.
 
“Those are streaks that we’re very proud of,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “That means that no matter the circumstances, our players give their best every time they put on an LSU uniform. We’ve had a lot of tough games during those streaks, and it’s a tribute to the determination of our players that we’ve maintained them for so long.”
