Probably in Mustique, the secret Caribbean freebie hideaway the Middleton clan heads to every year about this time. No photographers allowed!
At least, not since some really notorious photographs were snapped of the late Princess Margaret and her much-younger lover, Roddy Llewellyn, in a boozy Mustique beach tryst back in 1976. Margaret, who had a house on Mustique called “Les Jolies Eaux,” which I think translates into something like The Happy Waters,” was glamorous and witty and beautiful, and she gaily cavorted about on Mustique with Sir Roddy, when a paparazzo (or someone) took a photo. Margaret was wearing a bathing costume at the time, and seemed to be very much enjoying herself. Poor Margaret was barely back off the plane when her furious older sister, Queen Elizabeth, angrily summoned her to Buckingham Palace and announced that Margaret’s own philandering husband was using the spate of bad publicity to demand a royal divorce.
Queen Elizabeth’s probably never liked Mustique since.
She might now at least appreciate the fact that Roddy (who was handsome in an androgynous, David Cassidy kind of way) was a 5th baronet, and was not trying to nab a title out of his “friendship” with her sister.
Last week, the entertainment news source, E! News, claims that “despite Middleton’s occasional trip out to a few stores, “Kate's been laying low. She’s been staying at Kensington Palace and living the life of a duchess.”
Uhm...does that mean she no workee now?
Notice that they don’t say anything about being preggers, or about having rampant morning sickness. No. Now, Kate is “living the life of a duchess.”
What is that, exactly?
Is it a life like the late Duchess of Windsor lived, traveling with jewel case and pet pugs and grinning royal hubby in tow, to all places of glamorous exile? Is it a life like the perennial and persistent Duchess of York leads, sploshing down plonk while scooping up piles of cash for illicitly granting “access” to her former husband, Prince Andrew (the Duke of York), all captured on video tape?
Gosh, we hope not!
Just the thought of Kate Middleton “living the life of a duchess” makes us think that yet another freebie vacation in Mustique sounds like a great idea!
Now, all we need is a picture!
Would you want Prince Charles or Prince William to be the next King?
