I-220 E in Shreveport has reopened after a wreck involving an 18-wheeler early Wednesday morning.
The 18-wheeler rolled over just before 2:00 a.m. All eastbound traffic on I-220 starting at I-20 before Jefferson Paige Road was diverted.
Shreveport Fire Department worked for more than an hour to pull the unconscious driver out of the 18-wheeler. Life Air flew the driver to University Health where he is being treated for what's described by officers on the scene as life threatening injuries.
We're still trying to find out what caused the crash. SPD says that the 18-wheeler left the roadway for an unknown reason. The 18-wheeler lost its load, spilling rolls of paper across the interstate.
The cleanup was done and the road was reopened by 9 a.m.
